I was travelling on Thrower Driver in Palm Beach and came to a stop due to a traffic congestion ahead when the car behind mine did not stop and rear ended my car. This initial impact was very significant to the point that it caused a 4-vehicle collision. The at-fault vehicle smashed the back of my vehicle significantly, pushing the bumper bar almost to the level of the rear seat.

I managed to extricate myself from the vehicle and laid down because I was in a huge shock and I could not believe what just happened.

The ambulance took me to the Gold Coast University Hospital where I was reviewed in the Emergency Department.

Following this, I was reviewed by my GP and was also seen by an orthopaedic surgeon who confirmed that I had sustained severe spinal injuries to my cervical and lumbar spine.

I was a tiler at the time of the accident and was forced to reduce my work hours due to my physical limitations in my neck and lower back.

My claim was resolved at the compulsory conference stage which was 1 year from the date of accident.
